History of Wyndshyld

After getting a rock chip on his windshield, the Founder naturally sought out to find a good repair for his chip.  He knew that most chips could be repaired without having to actually replace them.  Having been a car enthusiast and former owner of a car show production & judging company, he has always had a very keen eye for perfection on a car.  Like any car buff and perfectionist usually does, he did extensive research to learn what made a good repair.  He quickly learned that the proper and highest quality repair of a rock chip is impossible without the right tools and that DIY kits were too risky to try as they rarely obtain a correct repair.

After seeking out a professional repair and discussing each company’s repair process, he was very disappointed to see that most of the traditional glass shops and companies that “offered repair” really wanted to replace the windshield rather than repair as they made more money.  He was able to find those that would repair the chip, but their process included several shortcuts that the industry frowns against or their process was outdated.  Such things included always drilling, using the cheapest resin, and just letting the sun cure the resin.

Additionally, several of the glass shops he contacted, the techs that performed the repair were typically the least experienced with glass and had little to no understanding the science behind a break, making their ability to perform a proper repair correctly even more challenging.  He was even more to disturbed to find that there were no nationally certified windshield repair technicians in the Atlanta area.  The only certifications were either in house or were through an equipment provider.  These types of certifications only mean that the techs know how to do it the way the company or equipment provider thinks it should be done, not the industry.

With a background in launching new products and services around the world for a Fortune 500 company, he was keen to investigate what the industry said was the correct way to repair a windshield.  Through his research, he discovered the ANSI standard for windshield repair, formerly know as ROLAGS (Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard).  After discovering this, he began to make connections in the industry and decided to found a new repair company in the Atlanta area to address the lack of dedicated repair companies that follow the correct process for repairing windshields.  Through his connections, he received extensive mentoring, training and thus began the process to launch Wyndshyld.

Since then, Wyndshyld has evolved into a full auto glass replacement and calibration provider while still keeping true to the original mission of Wyndshyld.
